Agents of Transformation: A Heart-Centered Path to Reconnection and Resilience

Dean Walker, author of The Impossible Conversation, is also the founder of Living Resilience Coaching and Deep Academy, which both offer transformative tools, support and practices for those of us who are aware of the collapse of systems we’re currently living through.

In this Agents of Transformation interview, Dean shares how his innate childhood sensitivity to and deep love for the natural world made him unable to participate in the “business as usual” paradigm and required him to seek pathways of reconnection and resilience.

I think you’ll appreciate his journey and perspective on living through difficult times with meaning, joy, beauty and resilience.

In the first 4 minutes, I introduce my own experience in Dean’s April 2022 course on Resilience.

4:34: Dean shares his experience of the course.

6:16: Dean shares how his journey of psycho spiritual, shamanic and land-based practices led to his creation of his current coaching and facilitating.

8:08: Dean talks about the process of researching and writing and publishing (2017) his book The Impossible Conversation (about abrupt climate change).

10:27: Dean shares his current focus on human system collapses and how right-brain practices can support us.

13:00: Business as Usual mindset: our current US situation (media, politics) is a result of corruption. How can we hold what is happening in a more expansive perspective?

15:26: Dean’s model for his book and work (from shamanic practices): humans needs to reconnect to our deeper self, to other people, to the earth and to Soul. When we engage in these practices, we find our Center at the intersection of ancient wisdom traditions, spiritual traditions and the energetic skills.

20: I share how midwifing the deaths of 13 of my closest loved ones, and countless clients, has expanded my own practices and my perspective.

24:30: The resilience path Dean that recommends for those of us who want to come out of a disconnected “business as usual” paradigm. (It’s often a “punch in the face” that helps us emerge out of BAU.) Dean describes how co-regulation skills, practices of reconnection and transformative practices (the zone of awareness and energetic skill) keep us out of fear and in the present moment, able to serve others.

41: Dean speaks about his mentors and his early childhood experiences that started him on this path.

45: 57: We have an epidemic of anxiety and depression in our young people today, which must be addressed at the individual level and also seen as a systemic issue.

49: How Dean’s work gives me hope. Dean’s recommendations for finding resources that will meet you where you are. “Don’t try to do this alone.”
